Scripture Memory 101—How to Review a Verse

1. Cover the whole card.

2. Say the Outline Title and Number

Uncover  the Outline Title and Number and check for accuracy. (Again, with subsequent verses in the same outline, skip the Outline Title and begin with the Number.)

3. Say the Topic.

Uncover the Topic and check for accuracy.

4. Say the Reference.

Uncover the Reference and check for accuracy.

5. Say the first line of the verse.

Uncover the first line and check for accuracy.

6. Continue the process until you’ve checked the whole card.

How to Correct a Mistake:

1. Read the affected phrase 5–10 times out loud.

2. Recite (from memory) the phrase 5–10 times out loud.

3. Insert into verse and read or recite the verse 5–10 times out loud.

4. Care about accuracy.
