Adventure

Thought for the week: The key to living an adventure is not just the experience; it’s about sharing it. —Dan T. Cathy

Life is either a great adventure, or nothing. —Helen Keller

“Make your choice, adventurous Stranger,
Strike the bell and bide the danger,
Or wonder, till it drives you mad,
What would have followed if you had.”

―C.S. Lewis, The Magician’s Nephew

“Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.” ―Joshua 14:12

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” ―Jeremiah 29:11-13

I remember Caleb’s story whenever I hesitate to move in faith because I’m 59 now, not 29. I thought of this verse a lot when I was evaluating whether or not to uproot my family from Fort Worth–where I’d been deeply planted for 36 years–to Colorado Springs…for a part-time, seasonal job. I knew God was doing something significant. I didn’t know what, or by what path we would get there, but I knew I didn’t want to miss out. Still don’t know exactly what he’s up to, but all of us see his hand everywhere. And we catch glimpses of what might happen and it excites and scares us at the same time. We are definitely on an adventure!
